Excel 2002 I would like to know if it's possible to
display the results of a year's 4 quarters in one pie
chart and then break one of the four monthly totals in
the little chart. No matter what I do, it seems to total
them all together and without reason it will place some
of the information in one pie chart and some of it in the
little chart.  Here is some sample data:

4th Quarter    $16.10
3rd Quarter    $1.20
2nd Quarter    $1.03
1st Quarter    $22.20

January    $13.40
February $6.20
March    $1.10
April    $1.50

I'm confused by your data, as each quarter should only include three
months, but your first quarter total is equal to the sum of Jan-April.

To create a pie of pie chart for the three months, and the remaining
quarters, remove the 1stQuarter line and the April line. The revised
data is:
4th Quarter  $16.10
3rd Quarter  $1.20
2nd Quarter  $1.03
January     $13.40
February     $6.20
March        $1.10

Use the Chart Wizard to create a pie of pie chart from this data.
Then, click on one of the pies, to select the series.
Choose Format>Selected Data Series.
On the Options tab, choose to split series by Position.
Second plot contains the last 3 values
Click OK
