Not very elegant, but you can hide it by replacing it with a space. Chart
menu > Source Data > Series tab, select the series, type a space character
in the Name box.

Whitfill,
Next time, On your Chart, right-click in the chart area, this will select it.
The pop-up window, select "Source Data".
The pop-up window, select "Series" tab.
Now you can label them or space out.
