Is there any way to sort the data in an Excel chart. I do not mean b
simply sorting the worksheet source data, but automatically withi
the chart. It seems quite a simple idea to me but I cannot find ho
to do it anywhere in Exce

No, you're not an idiot.  Some things seem like they'd be easy, but for
some reason Excel makes them hard.

Data points are plotted in the chart in the order they appear in the
worksheet.  A line chart or other chart type with a category axis places
the points left to right according to worksheet position of the data.
Points in an XY Scatter chart are also plotted in order, which doesn't
affect their position along the X axis (since they're plotted by X
value), but the lines connecting points follow the order in the
worksheet.  If the X axis is a time scale axis, the points are plotted
left to right in increasing order of time; this is the only case in
which Excel sorts the data between the worksheet and the chart.

The bottom line is that, if you want you points plotted in a certain
order, you need to sort the values in the worksheet.

the title for your database.move one row down to enter a
field in each column.select both rows then click data on
your menu.Then click form... this should show your
database with all fields. enter data for each field click
next for a new record.When done click close. you can also
have quick access to your database by selecting your
range and clicking in the name box. Type a name for your
database .any name not valid will create a prompt from
the wizard. if no prompt go to name box whenever you need
that database Oh press enter after you type name
