Chart type not remembered in a pivot chart

if you change a dataseries chart type e.g to line from bar within a pivot
chart, it reverts back to it’s original setting when the chart is refreshed !!

Surely this cannot be right?

tried in Office 2000,2002,2003 & 2007beta

It's not "right" but it's the way it's been since pivot charts came out in
Excel 2000. The conventional wisdom, from the Microsoft knowledge base, is
to record a macro the next time you repair the formatting, then rerun the
macro as needed:
