I'm running Office 95 version and have been experiencing
error messages when opening other X-cell files sent to me
that read;  "(Sheet Name).xls: file is an invald format".
This doen't always happen which is the confusing part. The
files are sent to me from work, or sometimes other
locations, and I've sent myself some files from work that
open fine.  My suspisions are that the files are coming
from a newer version of Office (like 97 or 2000) and my
version will not open them all.  However, I work with both
Office 97 and 2000 at work and when I send them to myself
at home they seem to work fine.  Can someone help me solve
this riddle?

Hi Steve,

It probably depends on how the files are saved... you may
be saving files at work in Excel 95 format which explains
why you can open them at home. However, others may just be
saving them as Excel 97/2000/2002 which you will not be
able to open.

Does that help?
