External References/Formulas Lead to Crashes

I have a fairly large Excel workbook with macros that
imports reports from other systems as text files and
summarizes the information into monthly tabs.  Each of
the monthly tabs uses fairly complex formulas to retrieve
the accurate information from the imported data.
Additionally, external links are used the create 7 day
variances from the previous week's report.  The report
worked perfectly for several months until recently.  Now,
when the macro opens the previous week's report to update
the external references, all tool bars disappear and the
screen begins to flicker uncontrollably.  At this point,
a window pops up with a "Printer Setup" title bar.  After
I hit cancel on the printer setup window, either I am
given an error that states Not Enough Memory, or the
references are eventually updated.

In addition to the previous challenge, the file takes
extremely long to load (almost 2 minutes) and crashes
when attempting to save about 50% of the time.  Does
anyone have any suggestions?  If you need further
information, please ask and I'll be more than happy to go
into more detail!  Thank you for any insight anyone can
provide!

Sounds to me the file is corrupt. See this page for some suggestions:
