How do I refresh a column of data in exel?

When entering a vlookup to collect data from one worksheet to another in the
same workbook, exel will not return data unless I re-type the information I
am searching to match (or refresh it with F2). I am working with a sheet
which contains around 9000 records, and to re type every value is not viable.
I cannot get the "refresh" option to be available on the data toolbar - has
anyone else come accross this bug, and does anyone have a solution to
overcome it?

Hi Abby,

The Refresh button doesn't affect worksheet formulas like VLOOKUP.
Normally these formulas would recalculate automatically, so it sounds like
you have the workbook calculation option set to manual. Choose
Tools/Options/Calculation from the menu and make sure the "Automatic" option
button is selected.

If this makes the workbook too difficult to use because of long
recalculation times, you can set calculation back to manual and use the F9
key to force it to recalculate when you need it to.
