Excel MOD function (division) is not giving correct answer

when directing one cell to be divided by anouther cell the answer is
incorrrect.
dividing 56250 by 2 gives me 0 and
dividing 28125.00 by 12 gives me 9

What is the exact formula you entered?

   The Excel MOD function divides the first number by the second number and
returns the remainder from the division. Therefore the two results above are
the correct output of the MOD function. If you want to divide, use the
division operator:

=56250/2

=28125/12
