I am typing in dates in excel.

I type in 3/30/1978 and it comes out 30-Mar-1978

Than I type in 3/30/1878 and it comes out 3/30/1878 but it should appear
30-Mar-1878

I have Excel 2000.
Can a fix be made????
Thanks
Shaz

Two things are at play here

1) Excel cannot recognise dates prior to 1st January 1900 as dates so typing
in the 1878 date is just being seen as text and you get what you type

2) The other (1978) is to do with your language settings in Windows, Go to
start>control panel>regional setting (Maybe international settings) and
change the location to your current one.  I suspect US. (Looks like you have
it set at Europe or UK). Restart Excel.voila!

No fix needed!
