formulas not working

My formulas are not working in any of my spreadsheets. For example, I have
=MEDIAN(D17:J17) and when I change cell D17 the results don't change at all.
Now if I go and retype =MEDIAN(D17:J17) it gives me the correct answer but if
I go again and change cell D17 it doesn't update the results. My baby was
banging on my keyboard yesterday and I wonder if that has something to do
with it. I've checked and no protection is on and I've rebooted. PLEASE HELP!

Pull-down:

Tools > Options... > Calculate and check the automatic button
