Hi all,
My scenerio is:
Windows 2000 server with a shared drive S:\public where users keep shared
files.
User has windows xp pro with Office 97 sr2.  When user created a excel
spreadsheet on s:\public then opens it.  She get error message "Adocument
with the name book.xls is already open.  You cannot open two docuemtns if the
documents are in different folders.  To open the second document, either
close the document  that's currently open or rename.
The first thing that I noticed was that the orginial file did not have an
excel icon but a text icon.  So I went to view file type and reset .xls to
excel then the excel icon showed up.
I had her delete the workbook and create a new workbook.  She closed the new
workbook and then reopened it.  She got the same error.
Does anyone know how to correct this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Sher

Hi all again,
I found the fix.  It is the command /regserver to reregister office.
Still not sure what the proper way will be to restore an excel file from
tape without causing this problem again.
