Get white cross when access save as then not responding

Trying to do a save as in file on a new document created from template. As
soon as i left click save as I get a white t in place of cursor and nothing
happens . If try left clicking again get message to right side of name of
document saying: Not Responding and get the hour glass and nothing happens
been using this for years just started happening.
