I transferred several workbooks from my old computer (with Excel 2000) to my new computer (with Excel 2003). In one of them the sheet tabs and horizontal scroll bar don't show, though they are turned on in the Tools menu. Try Maximizing the Workbook Window. It may be moved down such that the bottom portion is obscured by the Status Bar.
