My problem is three-fold. First I can only use my number pad in excel.  If I
use the numbers below the function keys on my keyboard, excel will not format
them (currency, accounting etc.). Second, when I use my kep pad and type in a
decimal point, it appears as a little square instead of a period/decimal
point.  Third, while reasearching how to fix this problem, I discovered that
when I click on Options under the tools menu, I can only access the view tab.
When I try to click on other tabs I get this message "Your entry cannot be
used. An interger or decimal number may be required."  I have tried detect
and repair and reintalling excel with no success  I would appreciate any
help.

First thing to try is start Excel in safe mode (it ignores the registry then)
and then change the settings on tools options so they get saved (you need to
close Excel to make that happen). Then open Excel in normal mode and try tools
options again. Set everything back to how you like it.

To open Excel in safe mode, hold down the control key when you launch it.
