I restored a file that had been deleted but it is in a
code of some type. I am running office 2000 small
business. Any suggestions on how to get the data legible.
If I can just get the info I can enter it in a spreadsheet
again. I just have to have the data.

What do you mean by "is in a code of some type" ????

Does the file name look like a series of numbers?  If so, in Windows explorer, rename it with a .xls on the end, and you'll find its a valid Excel file

If you've simply done a normal restore of a deleted file, it should come back as it was.

Explain a bit more please
