Hi,
I hope someone can help me with this problem.
When I open Excel [or Word], the Office assistant is not visible. When I
click on  'Help' and the 'Show Office Assistant', the program crashes.

Also, in Excel, when I start a formula by pressing the "=" sign in a cell or
the 'fx' the screen locks up and  then crashes.

I run XP and if I log in to the Guest account, I don't get the problem-
everything works fine. This leads me to believe that it is a corruption/virus
in the main user profile.

I wouls like a suggestion as to how to get my programs working correctly
without having to rebuild a whole new personal user profile.

Thanks!
Ijaz

Have you contacted microsoft and/or searched it's site?

There was an enhancement that created similar (but apparently
different) crashes recently
