I am using a XL Spreadsheet.  I would like to convert the list of  last names
in column A into alphabetic order.

click Data/Sort, sort by Column A - ascending.  If you have a table and want
the entire table sorted by last name, then you will need to select the entire
table before sorting, otherwise column A will get sorted, but the rest of
your data will remain as is.

Be sure to back up your data.
