How to retreive the data entry bar to edit a sheet?

To revise a completed Excel sheet whose entry bar disappears, how can one
edit by restoring the entry bar?

Go to View > Toolbars and make sure the first two are selected

Choose View>Formula Bar, and it should reappear.

I'm assuming "formula bar".

Tools>Options>View>Window Options.  Check "Formula Bar"
