Try to write this:
=Sheet1!A2
Sadly, only the reference text shows up.

Sorry, the Excel is XP version with SP3.
Acctually this doesnt work:
Sheet2: E180 contains a text or a number.
Writing =Sheet2!E180 in a cell in sheet1 doesnt work.
The referencetext are just shown in cell, not the number/text from sheet2.

Sounds like the cell the formula is in is formatted as Text. Try changing
the cell format to "General" then re-enter the formula.

Jan, is the cell in sheet to formatted as text? this will cause your
formula to show up, format the cell to something else and try it again.
