After upgrading from Office 97 to Office 2003, the links in Excel workbooks
to other workbooks are not correct anymore.
Where there used to be a link to the workbook on a network drive (for
example H:\Excel\document.xls) the link now replaces H: with C:\Documents and
Setiings\%Username%\Application Data\.......
Even after restoring the links manually, the next day on opening the
workbook, the links are not correct again.

Try setting the links using 'My Network Places' rather than 'My Computer'
This eliminates problems with drive mapping for anyone using the workbook.
Be sure to save workbook after updating the links.
