I created a list within Excel and when I select the cell I get the drop down
box which allows me to then select one of the item within the list.

My question is: How can I have the drop-down button show for the cell that
contains the list.  As mentioned, currently it only shows when you select the
cell.  You cannot tell there is a drop down list until you select the cell.
I would like people to know there is a drop down list available without
having to first select the cell.

You can use a comb box from the forms toolbar. The drop arrow is always
visible *but* a combo box works differently compared to a data validation
list. Or, continue to use the data validation list *but* highlight the cell
with a border or a background fill color so that it stands out.
