I previously only needed a horizontal split in my worksheet, now I need the
vertical, but it is missing.  How can I get it back?

Try removing the split and then split it back...or...you may find the split
bar next to the scroll arrow at the bottom.  Drag it over.

You may have Window>Freeze Panes enabled.

You can't have both Split and Freeze Panes at the same time.
