i have a table with data in that i'm trying to mailmerge, however when i try
to do that it's using the data on the left hand column as opposed to the top
row of headings.

can i flip the table around to make it work, i know you used to be able to
but i can't remember how and i'm not sure it would work in this version of
excel. or the other alternative is how do i change where it's selecting the
mail merge from?

Maybe you can copy the data and Paste Special.  Select Transpose.
