average filtered values

is it possible to average the filtered values only?

=SUBTOTAL(101,E2:E30)

wher e2 to E30 id the un-filtered range

look in Excel help for subtotal and you'll find there are other codes in
addition to 101 which signifies average visible cells

Explains it all in Help on SUBTOTAL

This is a feature not available prior to Excel 2003.
