formula (a1*a2) filling down becomes (a2*a3) i want (a1*a3) Help!

in my spreadsheet when i fill down the formula i want it to use one cell and
mulitply it by the row.

How do i do this, please help its driving me mad!

=$A$1*A2

=A$1*A2 and fill down

Go into Excel help and look at the difference between absolute and relative
addressing for cell references.
