I have Workbook A which has demographic information for 1,000 Clients.
I have created Workbook B which will link to the information in
Workbook A. Some of the columns is a carbon copy of Workbook A. I
don't want to do a copy and paste everytime, so I have used external
links.

Unfortunately, when I "Update Links" this process can take some time.
I am linking to 20,000 cells (1,000 Rows with 20 Columns). How do I
create my external links to not take so long?

Thanks
Ruan

If you use the latest version of the Link Navigator in Navigator Utilities
to update your links, then it automatically opens your linked workbook
before it performs the update to speed up the process.  Updating links can
take forever with large workbooks, especially those which use lookups.

Navigator Utilities will help you find all your links as well as lots of
other useful stuff

Go to www.robbo.com.au for download.

I am running Windows 2000 and have just loaded up the the latest service
packs which takes me to service pack 4. I have also updated the Office Suite
(Office 2000 Professional) with all updates from Microsoft.

I have a large Excel workbook with links to one other workbook. Prior to
adding all these updates this workbook opened quickly with a short delay
whilst the links were updated. Since adding the software updates, the
workbook takes the same amount of time to open but the time taken to process
the links has risen considerably, somewhere between 5-10 times longer. Any
suggestions out there as to what the problem maybe or if there is a fix.

Many thanks
Al
