how do I send an excel spreadsheet as attachment with only the created
document so that the outer/surrounding un-used columns and rolls do not
appear in the attachment?

You can't unless you hide the columns and rows and do a screen print and
paste the picture into the body of your email but a spreadsheet will always
have the same dimensions even though columns and rows might be hidden
