I have set up a job costing sheet and a timesheet, the staff fill in their
timesheets and I entre them on to my system in excel and then I got a job
costing sheet which gives me details on how much a job is costing us, I would
like, when I enter figures into the timesheet it transfers and updates the
job costing sheet. I have tried different fomulas but nothing seems to work,
I would be very grateful if someone would help me please.

Tell us what formula you've used, what data values, what error message (if
any) you got, or what result you got and what result you expected.

Remember that if you are using Excel times and then trying to convert to
costs, the basic unit of Excel time is one day, so if you want to convert to
a number of hours you'll need to multiply by 24 (and then use General or
Number format for that output, rather than time).

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question this the formula that was
set up by the person before me: =+'G:\TIMESHEETS\CURRENT
TIMESHEETS-Sept05-Mar06\[Michael-Sept05-Mar06.xls]051225'!$I$10

The last digits are the place on the timesheets, and the also the date is
back to front, with the year first, month second and day last.

She told me to press the key that has the large arrow (the one on the key
board) and press the plus and mius key together and this should transfer data
from the time sheet to the job costing sheet, but I can not get it to work.

Please if you have any suggestions I am open to advice. I would like to
start a new job costing sheet and timesheet data base so I would love some
help with formulas.

Thanks again

I am assuming you simply want to copy the values of a cell in your timesheet
workbook to a cell on your job costing workbook, correct?

OPen both of the workbooks and on your job costing sheet select the cell you
want the data in, type = then select the timesheet and the cell with the data
you want and hit "Enter". The values on the job cost workbook will update to
the value in the timesheet.

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my query.
This is the formula that has been set up for me by the lady before me:
=+'G:\TIMESHEETS\CURRENT
TIMESHEETS-Sept05-Mar06\[Michael-Sept05-Mar06.xls]051225'!$I$10

I have tried what you said by opening the two docuiments up and pressing the
= key and the pressing entre but it does not work, I think I would have to
set up another data base for the timesheets and job costing sheets, but I
would very grateful if you could give me some advice.

Thanks again
