Hello, this may be kiddstuff to yuo but a huge problem to me and I'm sure
I need to insert the * character ex.
the value in cell A1 is 1
I want to change it to *1*
I want to change the hole column to the *#* format.
I have tryed userdefined formatting but without any luck...

Try this custom format:
\*#\*

If you just want to change the display, then
Format/Cells/Number/Custom type: \*#\*
