Duplicate Copy on Opening

Hi,

I recently had to reinstall my Excel program on a new disk.  I now get a
message I haven't seen before.

When clicking on a document in the Recent Documents List, the program starts
and loads the appropriate file named.  But then I get the following message:

==============================================

A document with the name ****** is already open.  You cannot open two
documents with the same name, even if the documents are in different
folders.  To open the second document, either close the document that's
currently open, or rename one of the documents.

================================================

As I said this is a new message to me.

I have tried to do the rename and it really doesn't have any effect.  I
still get the same message.

Where is this 2nd copy? and why is it being created?

I have tried to turn off some of the options about background copying, fast
saves, backups, etc. to no avail.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to get rid of this message and also make
sure no duplicate file is being created?.

Thanks,

LeBaron
