I have a spreadsheet with column headings.  Several of the columns need
to be split.  How do I do this without splitting the heading?

Hi Jessee,

Please explain what "splitting a column" means.
Can you give an example?

Hi Niek,

I have a column named "Product".  Beneath it I would like the product
column split into two columns, one named "Qty" and one named "Amount".
Hope this helps!

Thanks, Jessee

For the Product heading, look at

Format>Cells>Alignment tab, check Merge Cells.

The word "Product" should be in a cell by itself.   "Qty" and "Amount"
should each be in their own columns in the next row (with a line to
separate each column) directly beneath the word "Product".

I didn't seem to achieve this desired result.

Thanks again.

If "Product" is in cell A1, and your product lists start in cells A1 and
B2, the suggestion above should work.  Hilite cells A1 and B1, and click
the Merge & Center button (or do it through the cell formatting menus).
"Products" will be perfectly centered above the A and B columns.
