2 cells inside of one

I entered a row into a template sheet. Where there should be 1 cell there is
now 2 cells in one of the rows and when I drag down to auto fill, it is not
allowing to enter. I get the error message "this operation requires the
mergered cells to be identically sized"  I have adjusted the hight its the
width I can't expand to make it one cell

try to merge the cells before drag.
or copy and paste.

The 2 cells are merged.  I take it that you don't want them merged.  To
unmerge them, select that cell (looks like 2 cells), then do Format -
Cells - Alignment tab, uncheck "Merge cells".   HTH  Otto
