File, Page set-up enables one to detail the columns that can be repeated as
row headings on subsequent pages.  If one is using a few columns that need to
be repeated but has notes further down the page that are to be printed on the
first page but not on following pages how is that specified?

I'm not sure I fully understand.  Only the rows you select to be repeated
will be repeated, all others are just printed in sequence.  So if your column
headers are in rows 1 and 2, you instruct it to repeat/print rows 1 and 2 on
all sheets, the rows after 2 will just print in sequence.

You may be able to achieve what you want simply by placing the notes you
want to appear on the first page only in a few rows that will print on the
first page.  You can experiment a little with Print Preview to see where the
page is going to get cut off, then insert a few rows ahead of that point and
put the notes in those rows?

This might cause some other issues, such as breaking up the flow of any
formulas that are filled down the worksheet, but you could repair those after
getting the notes laid out like you need them.

Another option is to repeat the notes on every page using a custom Footer.
Use View | Headers and Footers and choose Custom Footer.  The footer is
divided into 3 sections, type and format what you want into them (you don't
have to use them all) and whatever is in the footer will appear on every
printed page from that sheet.
