MS Office Forum / Excel / New Users / September 2006repeated formulas in excel
I want to use the same formula a load of times in one column, the only thing differing being the cell number it's working on. Kinda like adding up 2 cells on the left, and putting it in a new cell on the right, and doing that 100 times Either drag the cell with the formula down as much as required (drag by the black cross on the bottom right corner) Or just copy and paste the cell If you have b1=a1/5 for example as you copy b1 to b2,b3,b4 the formula will change to a2/5 etc etc Steve > I want to use the same formula a load of times in one column, the only > thing > differing being the cell number it's working on. > Kinda like adding up 2 cells on the left, and putting it in a new cell on > the right, and doing that 100 times Cheers Steve! [quoted text clipped - 13 lines] >> cell on >> > the right, and doing that 100 times Hi Joyce If you mean you enter in C1 =A1+B1 Just copy that down column C for 1000 rows and the references will change automatically to A2+B2, A3+B3 etc, To copy down, hover your cursor over the bottom right corner of cell C1, until it changes to a small black cross. Double click and it will fill down the column provided there is data in column B. Otherwise, hold the left button down on the cross, and drag down as far as required. Excel will change the cell references automatically. Hope this helps.
