I saved several worksheets on the disk with Excel and am now unable to  work
with them on my labtop. Message read-only appears. How do I undo read-only?

Select File, Properties, and look at the "general" tab.  There is a check box
there for "read-only", see if you can uncheck it.

Never save Office docs to a floppy.
Save to hard drive and copy them to floppy with Explorer (or in MY Documents
use Send To)

What type of disk did you save them onto?  Any writes to a CD or DVD will
cause them to become Read Only.  Can't work with them at all from the disk.

Copy the files from the removable media onto the hard drive on the laptop
and then do as Wendy K. said to do earlier.

Recommendation: get yourself a nice USB 'thumb drive' for porting files
around.  They're great, no problems like this.  They're running about $25/GB
of storage up to around 4GB after that it gets a bit higher per gig.
