is it possible to have a cell value show on the desktop? i.e. if an excel
worksheet has a cell which returns a numerical value, can that value be shown
on the desktop and be visible all the time similar to the clock in the bottom
right of the screen.

Any ideas

Very easy:

Select the cell and while holding down the SHFT key, pull-down Copy Picture.

Then open any picture editor and paste the picture in.  Save the result as a
.jpg file.  Finally set your wallpaper using the .jpg

yes this is easy but unfortunatly its not quite what i meant. what i need it
to do is always show what is in the selected cell, so if the cell value
alters so does the value on the desktop. so if you made the cell return the
time, then the desktop would show the correct time etc.

do you think this is possible?
