excel auto sum set up

I use a spread sheet for my business i enter daily figures and i need to see
a month to date totals at the bottom but all i see is ####### why? and how
can i correct that?

The first thing to check is that the column is wide enough.....

As Gordon said, the column may simply not be wide enough to display the
results.

But if you're doing any 'math' with date/time values, Excel will also return
###### if a negative date is returned.
