I am attempting to print from excel to a colour printer with double sided
printing. I have changed the configuration of the advanced settings in Print
options to double sided but it still prints on a single page. Is there
something I have missed?

Hi Gav,
Each time you start the printer it will start a new sheet.

Is Duplex mode working for say printing a few pages of a web page.
Check your printer settings:
Windows Start,  settings, control panel,  printers
right click on your printer and check all of the settings  looking for Duplex  and Ctrl-D
