Don't know what checking all of the boxes means, whether in
your print driver
or in Excel
Excel does not do grayscale, so I presume you mean you set
your printer -- so it would not be an Excel question (as far as I know).
Most laser printer are black so if that is the case you should not have
to do anything as it should be your print driver that prints grayscale.
In Excel file, page setup, sheets, B&W option will change
to black and white only -- no shades.

You can probably access your print driver in Excel from
File, Page Setup, Page, Options
You may have a print driver option to print with black ink only
