Auto/Manual Calculation

I have made some changes to a program recently. Nothing that I haven't done
in the last 7 years. I am using formulas that are linked to another
worksheet in the same workbook, or a worksheet in a separate workbook. As I
said, I have done this many times in the past. However, recently, and
seemingly indescriminantly,the calculations mode for some of my worksheets
will toggle to manual mode. I NEVER use Manual calculations and NEVER go
into the options tab where the Manual/Auto options are. The only thing I
have done a little different in the past is to group my worksheets together
to print all at once. But i do not change my calcualtion mode to Manual.
Thanks in advance for the help. I am going nuts trying to fuigure it out.

Common problem......not yet fixed in 2007 version.

Tools>Options>Calculation can be Auto or Manual.

Excel takes the Calculation mode each session from the settings on the first
workbook opened in that session.

i.e. If you saved Book1 with calc mode in manual and opened it first, calc
mode would be in Manual.

If you saved Book2 with calc mode in auto and opened it after Book1, Book2
would be in manual mode(Excel ignores the auto calc mode in this case).

If you close Book1 before opening Book2, Book2 will be in auto calc mode.

Confusing enough? <g>

If you want a particular workbook to always open in AutoCalc mode you can use
code to set it to auto whenever you open the workbook.

Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Application.Calculation = xlAutomatic
End Sub

Right-click on the Excel Icon left of "File" and select "View Code"

Paste the above into that module and save the workbook.
