(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\Office.Desktop.Google.com\LoadBehaivor=2) worked for me.

Thanks for pointing this one out.
For reference, Google-Desktop is not the only culprit in this type of
problem. If anyone should happen across AutoDesk Vault 5, which includes an
Excel Plug-in, the registry Key "LoadBehavior" is found in the following
registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\excel\Addins\ExcelVaultAddinApp2003.Addin
Does anyone know why loadbehavior is altered for excel?
