Excel nor any part of the MS Office Suite come as part of a Computer Operating
System.
If you had Excel on the Computer, it was placed there by Dell or someone else
with access to your Computer.
If you get no satisfaction from Dell, you will have to purchase Excel as a
stand-alone or as part of MS Office Suite.
See your local Software dealer or check out Ebay for older versions(97, 2000)
If buying from Ebay make sure a licence comes with.

It's a pretty common abbreviation for Microsoft--even their symbol on NASDAQ.

Larry,
I'm fairly sure dell will have talked you through using
the restore disk which just installs the OS.
Most Dell machines of 3 years ago would have shipped
with 'Microsoft Works' which *I think* includes a version
of excel. Have a look and see if that is one of the disks!
Kind Regards,
Ben
