Report Manager

Hello,

I downloaded Report Manager from MS as I read it would work fine with Excel
2003.  When I double click on the exe file (RPRMGR.EXE), I get a dialog box
that asks if I want to install Report Manager.  After selecting yes, a
license dialog box pops up which I also acknowledge.  Then I get a file(s)
loading box which happens so fast that I cannot read what it is loading.
Now the problem,  when I go to tools<addins in Excel, there is no check box
for Report Manager.  Also, the view menu doesn't show a Report Manager
option.  Where did it go?  And how do I get it to load in Excel 2003?

Thanks for any help!

Do a file seach on "REPORTS.XLA"

It should have been installed in the Office\Library folder.

If you find it, move it to that folder.

Gord et al,

Hmmm.  That's strange.  I had already checked for any XLA file that even
resembled REPORTS.XLA but there are none.  I tried downloading the file
again, turning off NAV and reinstalling.  No luck.  Still can't find the XLA
file.  Any other thoughts?

When searching have you set up to "show all files"?

The Report Manager add-in download is named RPTMGR.EXE and is downloadable
from here

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=34DACD92-D511-4760-8094

Is that the one you downloaded and installed?

Gord,

Thanks for all your suggestions.

Yes, I have searched for "show all files" and also yes, I downloaded
RPTMGR.EXE from the url you indicated.  I tried it again using your link and
both downloaded/installed it and also tried installing right from the MS
site.  RPTMGR.EXE is loading something as I mentioned, but it is too quick
to read what it is.  I have searched for all XLA and XLL files and find
nothing that resembles "report".  I have also searched for report*.* and
only find a couple of cfg, ico, and txt files.

I am stumped.  Have you successfully loaded report manager add-in into Excel
2003?

Not much consolation but I am experiencing identical problems to you. Let's hope someone finds a solution

I have not installed XL2003 as yet, so not qualified to address your problem,
it would seem.

I was making assumptions that the install of RPTMGR.EXE would be the same as
for XL2002.  There's that "a.s" word again.

We can only wait for someone with XL2003 to jump in with some information.

Jim,

I know this is from 2004 but did you ever get Report Manager working properly?
I am having the same problems with home computer on XP.  I installed Report
Manager yesterday with no problems on work computer (2000 Profesional) but
have been unable to install on home PC.  I like you have installed many time,
searched, etc., no file found.  Does it have anything to do with security
settings?

I realize this reply comes a long time after the original thread, but
someone out there will still appreciate it.
Here's how to Download and install the Report Manager for Excel 2003:

1. Go 'here' (http://tinyurl.com/yu2bn) to download the Excel 2002 add
in (don't worry, this still works with '03).
2. Once the file has downloaded, go ahead and install it.
3. In Excel, select Tools>Add-Ins and then click on the Browse button.
4. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Library. You
should see REPORTS.XLA in that folder. Just select it and click OK.
5. Report Manager should now be listed in your Ad-Ins list.
6. Make sure there's a check in the box next to Report Manager, and you
should be good to go.

Good luck!
