For some reason my Excel defaults to A4 for paper size,
how can that be changed to Letter?  This should be the new
default for all new documents.

thanks

Pierre,

I would go to the printer you are using and change the
default paper size.  On my HP printer, that setting is found in:

Properties | Advanced (button) | Layout (tab) | Paper Output
or
Properties | Advanced (tab) | Printer Defaults (button) | Advanced (button) |
etc

I verified the printer tray setup and it defaults to Letter
(us).  Good tip, but I'll have to look elsewhere.  Any
feedback is welcome.

thanks again

Pierre

Pierre,

Well then, do you have a template that is used as the default start up book?

Tools | Options | General (tab)
Look in "At startup open all files in"
or
Look in the "XLstart" folder on your hard drive
- possibly found in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office
