Hello,

Just curious what causes the excel spreadsheet to lock
when the file is shared amongst other users?  Is it due to
saving issues? Shortcut issues?  I'm not quite sure, but
it is a common error that happens everyday. At points we
lose the spreadsheet completely. As if it was deleted from
the folder.

How can we minimize these errors?

Please help! Thanks!

Exactly where is the spreadsheet located? Network drive or workstation?  Does
this lock for all users or just certain users? How many concurrent users in
file? How big is file?  How often do users perform computer maintenance on
workstations?

Our spreadsheet is located in our public drive (Network
Drive). It locks for all users. Usually there would be
about 10-15 users in at one time. The file is around 1-
2MBs. I'm not sure what you mean by "perform computer
maintenance on workstations" Please let me know if theres
any way I can solve this problem

Thanks!

I'm running into the same problems and wondering the same thing.
I now understand how to close the locked files on the Server, but
still have no idea why they get locked in the first place.

The files are small (under 2 megs, probably under 1 meg) and there
generally aren't more than a few people opening a file.
