Faster access and Excel?  together?

Be careful what you ask for, you may get it.   Many things
are supposedly done to make things go faster, such as

proprietary hooks into the system, may make things run
faster for a year or two, but in the long run they slow down
the software package and the system.   The software does
not gain from improved systems.

keeping software in memory so it won't have to be loaded,
keep in mind that you can only buy so much RAM memory.

poor virtual memory design in PC's.
