Just installed Excel 97 (from my original floppy's) on my
new computer running windows XP home edition.  Excell
will not open any of my spreadsheets transferrrd from the
old computer.  I tried the transfer wizard, copying
to "my documents", copying to Excel directory and copying
to a floppy.

Is Excel 97 compatible with XP.  Can't even uninstall 97
through control panel - program not listed - and don't
think I should just delete the directory altogether.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I now know the problem.  I inadvertently  installed a
version of Excel 5.0.  So now I have this version out
there with no uninstall program and not recognized by
the "Add/Remove Programs" capability in XP.  I would like
to get it off the system.  Any thoughts on how to safely
remove this would be greatly appreciated.
