I recently got a new machine running Windows XP Home
Edition.  I'm trying to install actually the whole suite
of Office 97.  Excel, however, is the most important to
me.  When I put the cd in, the computer doesnt recognize
that there's a disk there.  I've tried the disk
sucessfully on a roommates computer, and tried other disks
sucessfully in my computer.  I'd like to install
everything if I can, but definitely Excel 97.  Any
suggestions?

try doing a ctrl+alt+del to pull up the task manager.

Close down as many things as possible, and then try to install. I had this
problem on my xp machine, and after shutting down several things running in
the background it installed without further problems and ran properly.

Let me know,
