can the letters at the top of excell columns be rename?
and how if they can           excell 2002

You can have letters or numbers or no headers.

Tools|Options|General|toggle R1C1 reference style
or
Tools|options|View|Toggle Row and column headers.

But you can't change this.  But you could hide the headers and make your own
headers in row 1 and column A.
