We recently purchased a new system operating on Windows
XP. The problem we are having is how to download Excel
for our system as we can't open a lot of our e-mail
attachments. We want to know which version of Excel is
better to operate with and how to download it?

You do not download Excel.  It is a comercial product that you purchase.
You can download the Excel Viewer.  It is FREE!  Go to the Microsoft
Downloads site.

You can download a viewer from here....

http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/xlviewer.aspx

It will allow you to View and/or Print Excel workbooks without having Excel
installed.

Instructions at site.
